Scion Key Features

Teledyne exclusive SWIR sensors 

Built on decades of experience designing sensitive IR sensors, SCION features Teledyne’s exclusive VisGaAs and MCT (Mercury-Cadmium-Telluride or HgCdTe) sensors for broad wavelength coverage from 300-1700nm and 900-2500nm respectively. SCION’s wide VIS-SWIR capability benefits a wide range of applications from bioscience, Space & defense and semiconductor inspection.

Detect dynamic events

SCION enables applications where fast dynamic imaging with high sensitivity is required such as single molecule fluorescence or laser spot tracking. SCION 640 can run with up to 700fps full frame (175Hz for SCION 1280) or multiple kHz when windowing down the region of interest.

 

Optimized for high Signal-to-Noise Imaging

SCION improves all aspects of sensitivity, creating higher signal to noise for your imaging or spectroscopy application. Each sensor has a high photon conversion rate with up to 85% broadband QE. SCION’s sensor and electronics are furthermore designed to minimize signal readout noise and deep cooling down to -65°C crucially reduces dark noise particularly affecting SWIR measurements.

Advanced Readout Modes

Wherever possible, users can make use of the advanced non-destructive readout modes integrated into the SCION camera. This feature enables monitoring for transient or interfering signals during longer acquisitions. It also enables sample up the ramp capability which can be used to improve effective read noise levels by more than an order of magnitude down to <1e-.

 

Easy System Integration 

SCION is designed for easy integration into your system or instrument. The camera is build into a compact 86 x 86 x 127 mm housing, but is also available in a board level format, without housing for customized integration. A liquid cooling interface is available for applications sensitive to air disturbance or vibrations. 

Software integration of SCION is easy using Teledynes PICAM SDK or LightField application software

Designed for Reliability 

SCION provides a platform for reliable measurements and is designed for long, maintenance free operation. The camera sensor sits in a newly designed, laser welded vacuum chamber, designed for extended lifetimes featuring a 7-year warranty. Thermoelectric cooling enables SCION to operate reliably, ensuring repeatable, high quality imaging in a wide range of ambient conditions.
